About

A fourth grade teacher in a small country school in West Virginia, Vickie wishes that she could write about the idiotic daily happenings in her classroom. She is not ready to be fired just yet. She lives with her daughter’s sixteen year old cat as her kids have grown up and have flown the coop and she and her husband divorced after twenty five years. So, whether it is flying to Disney World to prove that she can travel anywhere by herself, or taking black and white photos and pretending she is talented, Vickie is living the second part of her life alone, but not lonely. Because, after all, there’s always Judge Judy to watch after she gets home from school. Life is good. She does love blogging and wants to write a book about her childhood, mainly because she was a fascinating child. Really.
She enjoys writing in the third person as it makes it look like she has a person.

Update- June, 2012. Vickie is beginning to polish up her blog posts and is writing her memoir, I Know You Did It, So Quit Lying, from those posts.  It will be riveting. She is looking for representation. Ok, that’s a lie. She is leaning toward Amazon and an ebook.

Update-July 7, 2012. Vickie lied about the above statement. Her memoir is called Jumping in Mud Puddles, and it just came out on Amazon as a Kindle ebook.  It’s right now #3 on the “Hot New Releases” page for Humor Essays. Go have a look see.

Update-November 4, 2012. The seventeen year old cat died in October and is buried under an old hickory tree beside the other family critters such as hamsters, a squirrel, a skunk, and a cardinal. Vickie is now free to travel, but sees stray cats looking at her every day.

  2. Thanks for liking my blog! I am also a Crazy Cat Lady as I have four living at my expense – none of whom originally belonged to me. I’m hoping to steal a nice tabby next time as the current incumbents are all either black or black and white, and I keep getting them muddled up.

    • Awww, thank you so much!! And no, I haven’t started it yet. I’m rounding up the posts that I want to include in the book. I hope to start on it this summer, as I teach and have the summers off, so that works great for me. Thanks again for your kind words. :)

  23. Now it’s working! I’m surprised that WordPress still has these little bugs in it however. I must have clicked on the “comment on this article” like 20 times and it just did nothing. I had to go roaming around your blog trying to figure out how to post.

Now it seems to be working super easy and I forgot what I was going to say. Oh yeah, can you add pictures of those signs you described in your article about making political slogans?

    Reply

    • Oh wait a minute, the real test is go to the article and see if I can post there.

      Reply

      • Nope, still cannot post a comment in regards to your article.

The comments “fix” would be when you are on the “home page”. The comment here phrase is in bold, but when I click on it, nothing happens.

    • Ok, I found the bug. Thank you soooo much for pointing this out to me. No wonder I haven’t had anyone write on my blog for about a month. Thanks for taking the time to write. I really appreciate the gesture!

  24. I tried to leave a comment after your most recent article and the article just sat there and stared at me.

    • But look, you left one..lol

      Reply

      • Yes, but, I had to know to go to the “about” section (which I only went to as a guess) when I already presumed I would be able to comment directly below the article I wanted to comment about.

    • I’m sorry…lol..I thought you were making a joke about June Cleaver staring at you…lol.. For some reason, when I looked into it, it wasn’t checked to allow people to comment on a new article. I think I fixed it..or made it worse. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for writing. I appreciate it :)
