Porch Pictures

Ever since I started this blogging thing several months ago, I have been looking through a lot of old pictures to scan. It took me forever to learn how to scan, because my printer doesn’t tell me how to do it. There is a scan button. So, I press it. Damn if nothing happens. So, I finally figured out how to scan using the Paint  feature  on my computer.

Before I divorced I had these “Porch Pictures” under the glass on my coffee table. It was a great place for company and family to look at the kids pictures through the years. I took pictures of Adam and Alex every year on the first day of school on the front porch. I made them put on their back bag and snapped a few before the bus came that first day. I am missing a couple, so the sequence is not complete.

Tiger walked over and took a bite out of her

And then off to college they went.  I am pretty sure that I took a picture of Alex by herself the year Adam started college, but I can’t find it, damnit. I did ask Adam if he would stand in front of his dorm room door and have his roommate take a picture for me, but he just laughed. I guess he thought I was joking.

So, new parents, take pictures of your kids by the front door on their first day of school. I am so glad I did. I hope someday to find the ones that I am missing.  I wish I would have been a little bit organized with the photos.

Those are great! I wish we had done something like that with our kids! I guess I will do that with the grandkids…if and when I ever get any! :)

    • Thanks! I know I have the others somewhere. I have pictures of them standing on our stairs for each of their school dances too. I just wish I would have organized my photos a little bit better…lol

  4. I too take a photograph of my girls on the first day back at school. It is a great way to see how much they have changed from one school year to another. The difference between this year and last years I have to say was the greatest.

Oh, and I cannot get my printer to scan by simply pressing the button on it, I have to go via paint too. Not too much of a hassle but I don’t understand why.
